An interactive and educational art installation for COP28, the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Dubai. In close cooperation with the Dubai Municipality and Nuevo Design, we worked on the revitalization of the iconic landmark and historical symbol of Dubai - Deira Clocktower. We turned the clock tower into a living sculpture that anyone can interact with!
One of the active activities of the Dubai Municipality during COP28 is the Art for Change initiative. For this initiative, we created our new digital artwork: a seascape depicting a coral reef and marine life based on Big Data that evolves and comes to life as people create their pledges to take care of the environment.
We collect data on user activity on the website and social media, where they post pledges under the hashtag #DubaiMoreSustainable, and the total number of pledges changes the overall appearance of the sculpture: the more people declare their readiness to take care of nature, the brighter and more alive the coral reefs begin to look. On the first day of the initiative's launch, the landscape was gray, lifeless, and sad. And when more than 10,000 pledges were collected during the week of the installation, you could see the clock tower come to life - overgrown with colorful living reefs and filled with bright fish.
